Germany surrenders army at Stalingrad and is expelled from Russia
Guadalcanal secured, battle moves up the Solomon chain.
Allies invade north Africa, USA bloodied a Kasserine Pass, Rommel expelled.

Advance across the central Pacific begins in the Gilbert Islands.
The Year 1944. . . . The Hard Fighting . . . The U.S. Navy is poised to move across the Central Pacific. Navies of both sides have been restored from massive losses around Guadalcanal. A second U.S. Navy supports the Army's move up from New Guinea to the Philippines. The Japanese Army advances on USAAF bases in China and invades India.

The U.S. submarine war reaches its peak. Production allows christening of 121 new Balao class subs. The defects with torpedoes are solved. Japanese fleet is starved of oil and relocates the fleet to countries nearer to the supply of oil.
The B-29 bomber enters service to attack the Japanese home islands. Flying first from China then transferring to Tinian (Marianans). Industrial cities are methodically destroyed.
