Planned surrender ceremony of Aug 28, the 6th anniversary of start of war in Europe, is delayed by storms The US arrives to collect POWS and internees.. America rejoices. Empires rush to reestablish their colonies who have other ideas.
  • Sep 1 . Two civilian internment camps found near Tokyo; internees evacuated in hospital ship Benevolence (AH-13).
  • Sep 2 . Surrender signing on USS Missouri in Tokyo Bay by one government official and one military leader on the Japanese side and its acceptance by representatives of nine Allied nations. .
      Japanese outposts begin surrendering to destroyers raced there to accept.
      Navy food saved many from starving.
      Soviet troops cease fighting -- had fought for land until the official signing.
